“Skilling India” is the dream project of Honorable Prime minister of India for creating job opportunities for the unemployed youth in the various services and manufacturing sectors throughout the country. It is a flagships program of the PMO targeting to create 500 million skilled man-powers by 2020. Renewable energy is one of these targeted sectors, and National Institute of Solar Energy, an autonomous institute under the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy is assigned with the responsibility to execute the various skill development programs throughout the country in the field of renewable energy technology. At present various programs are being conducted at NISE its partner institutes across India.
List of programs under the skill development division of NISE are:
Suryamitra
NISE is conducting “Suryamitras” training program to provide skilled technicians for installation, commissioning, Operation & Maintenance in the field of solar technology. The main objective of this program is to train the 10+2 passed, ITI/diploma holders/ as field technicians to execute National Solar Mission (NSM) programs across the country. NISE is identifying a network of institutions through State Nodal Agencies (SNAs) to conduct training programs, arranging funds to them, and also monitor them for proper execution. Separately, NISE is also organizing Suryamitra program in its own campus, so as set example.
Skill Development Activities at NISE
NISE is conducting Solar and Renewable Energy training for the past two decades for national and International Participants. NISE is regularly inviting people from solar and renewable energy industry and interacting with them to identify the skill gaps in the new recruits of the renewable energy industry. A dedicated training program on renewable energy technologies for the senior Defence officers are also being conducted thrice in a year. This year about 50 programs shall be conducted by NISE.
